MOORE REUNION HELD SUNDAY
The John F. and Mary E. Moore reunion was held Sunday, Aug. 20, 1961 in the Cedar school picnic grounds.
Fifty-one relatives enjoyed a basket dinner served cafeteria, and an afternoon of visiting.
This gathering started as a family picnic in 1919, celebrating the birthday of R. W. Moore. At that time four brothers and threes sisters were living, and 25 cousins. For ten years they and their families met at his home in Cedar on his birthday, Aug. 27.
After his death, April 28, 1930, the family was invited to the home of Mr. and Mrs. Eldon Moore on Aug. 27, 1930. There were 126 in attendance and the reunion was organized. At reunion time this year there are 13 cousins living and eight of them attended. They were Mrs. Howard Rickert of Selma, Iowa, Mrs. Ray Garret of Pomona, Calif., Mrs. Ed Fuhs of Kirkville, Iowa, Mrs. Cecile Smith and Mrs. Sina McDonough of Oskaloosa, Iowa, Mr. John F. Moore, Mr. Eldon Moore and Mrs. Belle Witt of Cedar, Iowa.
Officers elected for 1962 are: President, Mr. FredPhillips; Secretary and Treasurer, Mrs. Florence Masterson. The reunion will be held next year at the same place on the 3rd Sunday in August.
